Our programs and services help families with a relative in prison in so many ways
If you have a family member in the criminal justice system, you might be feeling very lost and confused. SHINE for Kids is the only organisation in Australia specifically set up to help families like yours.
Our services in the prisons
Prisons can be harsh, forbidding places, especially for children. Our programs based in the prisons are designed to alleviate that and allow children to maintain their family bond to the prisoner.
Our services in the community
If you’re feeling isolated and disadvantaged by your relative’s judicial sentence, you’re not alone. There are lots of ways SHINE for Kids helps children and their families hold together and face the challenges: at school, at group meetings, with the help of mentors.
For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families
As well as accessing all our other programs and services, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander kids and their families can reach out to their culture to make a difference to their lives following the imprisonment of a relative.
