Storytime

Storytime gives a child comfort through listening to and reading along to a story recorded by their parent in prison. The parent also gets comfort knowing that they are contributing to their child’s reading and literacy skills.

This program is designed for children with a parent in custody to help strengthen the important bond between them and their parent.

The parent in custody records themselves reading a storybook supplied by SHINE for Kids. In some cases, the parent also has the opportunity to write their own story and record it.

The child receives the recordings of the stories and the books to read along with their parent’s voice.

Who is it for?

From toddlers to older children and their parent in custody.
