Storytime gives a child comfort through listening to and reading along to a story recorded by their parent in prison. The parent also gets comfort knowing that they are contributing to their child’s reading and literacy skills.

This program is designed for parents in custody wanting to strengthen the bond with their child and for their child.

In the first week of the program, the parent records themselves reading a storybook supplied by SHINE. In the 2nd week the parent writes their own story and records it. The child receives the recordings of the stories and the books to read along with their parent’s voice.

Who is it for?

From toddlers to older children and their parent in custody.
