“The boys told their mum it was the best day. She said they haven’t stopped talking about it since!”
Child & Parent Days are a highlight for families with a dad in custody at Macquarie, and this one was no exception.
These special days give children the chance to spend extended, meaningful time with their dad, talking, playing and simply being together.
Our team was there to create a supportive, child-focused environment, with plenty of fun activities (including karaoke!) to help everyone feel at ease.
Our team member shared of the day, “I’ve watched these children grow up over the past few years, building stronger relationships with their dads, growing in confidence, and developing a willingness to have a go. Most of all though, I’ve loved seeing them create lasting memories.”
A huge thank you to the centre for helping make the day so special, from staff who blew up countless balloons and decorated the space with Easter touches, to the catering that included a BBQ, fresh fruit, sandwiches, cakes, lollies and more. Men in custody also contributed by organising Easter eggs for the children.
Days like this lift the spirits of everyone in the centre, and it’s clear just how much they are valued by the families who take part.
