Storytime on the South Coast is a firm favourite!
In our Storytime program, parents in custody select and record themselves reading a story book for their child. This is then sent to the children in a special package along with the book so they can read along at home.
Hearing their missing parent’s voice helps children stay connected and feel thought of, even when separated.
These families have loved the program and passed on great feedback including:
“We absolutely loved the book reading, and Benny* received his book in the mail this morning, which was very exciting. Thank you for everything you do.” – Carer
“Thank you so much for sending this through. Sam* is going to absolutely love it! May God bless you for all the good that you do for these men and their families. It truly is such an important cause.” – Carer
“The program shows the importance and benefit of building and maintaining connection between loved ones in custody and the community,” said our team.
“It makes me feel proud that I can have a small hand in this.”
Thank you to CSNSW staff at the South Coast for supporting SHINE for Kids programs.
