Rise school holiday fun with a trip to the movies!

School holiday fun on the Central Coast as our Rise mentor took her students to the movies!

Families in our Rise program came together for the event, enjoying one of two different movies on offer along with a goody bag of treats and popcorn (of course!).

For some of the children, it was the first time they’d been to the cinema.

But it won’t be the last. One of the students is already planning the next holiday’s event, saying that one of the movies they saw in the previews was “so cool!”

These days are a way to reward children for their hard work at school during the term and give them opportunities to make friends with other children who understand what it’s like to have a mum or dad in custody.

They are also a way to support parents when money is tight by providing a fun holiday outing and the chance to create happy memories together.

Families also often enjoy meeting others in the area who are going through what they are, building a network and helping with feelings of isolation.

A huge thank you to The Metro Lakehaven, which made these holiday activities possible.

Our team received lovely feedback from carers after the event, including:

  • “Thank you again for today it was a really good movie to and for the boys little bags.”

  • “Thank you so much for inviting us along today and for the little gifts. The kids had an amazing morning 😀 x.”

  • “We had an amazing morning together as a family. Thankyou 💙”

Thank you The Benevolent Society for supporting Rise mentoring on the Central Coast.
