Shane is a Wakka Wakka, Bundjalung man from Northern NSW/South East Queensland and first joined the Board as a non-Executive Director in 2018. He is SHINE for Kids’ first-ever Aboriginal Chair.
I’m very proud to play a Leadership role in such a great organisation that has and continues to do exceptional work that is needed to support the families of those affected by the criminal justice system.

Prior to this Shane worked for 15 years in the prison service across three States – Qld, Victoria and WA, commencing as a prison officer at Australia’s first private prison Borallon Correctional Centre in Qld 1991, and finishing in prison operations in 2003 as Assistant General Manager at Acacia Prison.
Shane is also serves as a Director of First Australians Capital Ltd which aims to alleviate the poverty and disadvantage in life outcomes experienced by Indigenous Australians by building on the strengths and assets of Australia’s first peoples.
