Carers can relax and gain access to support while the children can play and get some wiggles out before or after a visit.
As always, the local community has made sure that children coming by the centre have plenty of goodies to enjoy and some special items, including books and toys, to take home with them.
Every bit counts for our families who drop by and are often facing financial struggles and stigma. Carers are very grateful for the gifts (especially the cuddly teddy bears!) and know that they are being thought of and taken care of.
“It makes me feel so happy to know that I’ve achieved something and helped make a difference in the lives of the families.”
Quite a few parents said that the teddy bears were especially special as the children found them comforting and could hug them when they missed their dad in custody.
One mother told us that her children were carrying the bears around everywhere at home and using them in their games together.
Our team member said of the lovely feedback, “It makes me feel so happy to know that I’ve achieved something and helped make a difference in the lives of the families.”
Thank you to the Samaritans Foundation Cessnock for putting smiles on so many little faces!
In total, we received an incredible donation of new toys and books, including 96 teddy bears, 33 wooden trucks, 5 wooden fire stations, and 19 children’s books. Â
Please donate today and support our work with children affected by the justice system.Â
