So opportunities for them to meet others in the same situation, who often have similar experiences at home and school, are golden.
That’s what this pizza and movie outing was for the young people from our Townsville SFK Mentoring program – a chance for them to share some laughs, do a special activity they might not usually get to, and meet others who ‘get them’.
Our SHINE for Kids team said it was great to see everyone having not only fun but also good conversations, and they were pleased to be able to do something special for our kids, with one saying, “I can’t usually go to the movies because mum can’t afford to take me.”
SFK Mentoring supports young people during those critical but often neglected tween and teen years.
