Easter brings hope to the men at Macquarie

Some special Easter deliveries were made to excited children over the long weekend this Easter!

The men at Macquarie Correctional Centre recently participated in a special craft workshop as a way to stay connected with their families and show them they are thinking of them.

These great workshops run with the support of the NSW Department of Communities and Justice also encourage teamwork, patience and communication skills with the men all working together.

We were so moved by the great feedback from the men:

“It always reminds my kids that dad is still around and hope is just around the corner.”

“It’s tough being away from my kids so opportunities like these put a smile on my kids’ faces and makes me happy.”

“I like to use every colour of the rainbow … it has really brought the baby’s room a lot of joy.”

“I appreciate the opportunity to connect with my children … [I can] show my love and that I do think of my loved ones.”

“The workshop was very beautiful, it allowed me to be creative and share something special with my daughter and grandkids. I’m very grateful for the opportunity.”

“It was a wonderful activity that helps maintain and sustain the bond between the inmates and their loved ones.”

“[The workshops] bring happiness into our family lives … [and is] an integral part of keeping the connection alive with out families. Thank you”.
