Storytime

Storytime gives a child comfort and improves their wellbeing through listening to and reading along to a story book recorded by their parent in custody.

What’s involved?

The parent in custody is supported to record themselves reading a storybook supplied by SHINE for Kids. In some cases, the parent also has the opportunity to write and create their own story book for their child.

The child receives the recording of the story and the book so that they can read along with their parent’s voice any time they are missing them.

Why is this program needed?

This program improves the wellbeing of children with a parent in custody by supporting them to feel connected with and loved by their parent in custody. Listening to their parent’s voice strengthens the important bond between child and their parent and eases feelings of isolation.

Who is eligible?
