“Days like today are tiring but boy are they worth it. I travelled to the outing with a car full of silent children, the return trip was anything but silent.” – Priscilla, QLD State Manager
What a great day for our RISE Education kids in Townsville! Tapping into team member Jessica’s boxing experience, the team organised a full day of activities to give kids the chance to try something new in a safe supported environment.
The day was all about building self-esteem, trying something different and opening up new worlds and opportunities.
At first the kids were shy but by the end of the day, they were all participating with big smiles on their faces. After training, the group went for a swim and BBQ lunch. They even got to feed some turtles and fish!
The kids opened up and spoke to each other about their parent in prison, shared Priscilla. “Often the children we work with carry the weight of their parent’s actions on their little shoulders – until they find someone else who is the same as them.”
They all asked when will we be doing this again!
