Storytime

What is Storytime?

Storytime comforts children and connects them with their parent in custody by providing a voice recording of their parent reading to them that they can listen to along with the storybook.

What’s involved?

The parent in custody is supported to record themselves reading a storybook supplied by SHINE
for Kids. In some cases, the parent has the opportunity to create their own story book. The child
receives the recording of the story and the book so that they can read along with their parent’s voice any time they are missing them.

Why is this program needed?

This program improves the wellbeing of children with by supporting them to feel connected with and loved by their parent in custody. Listening to their parent’s voice strengthens the important bond between child and their parent and eases feelings of isolation.

Who is eligible?

Children from toddlers through to school age children with a parent in custody are eligible for this program.
