Fundraising on Facebook is a great way to raise awareness and support SHINE for Kids.

You can do this by dedicating a special occasion, such as your birthday or anniversary, to the cause or by asking your friends and family to make a donation in lieu of a Christmas or wedding gift!

The following steps show how to easily set up your fundraiser, offering tips and ideas to maximise interest among your friends and family and to successfully reach your fundraising target.

5 Easy steps to create your own Facebook fundraiser: 

1. Go to Facebook

 2. Set your goal and end date

You can set how much you want to raise for your fundraiser and the date you would like your fundraiser to end – you can change this once your fundraiser is live.

3. Tell your story

The title box and ‘Why are you raising money?’ box have prefilled text, but you can customise it to your particular fundraiser or why you choose to support SHINE for Kids today. This will appear on your fundraiser page for your family and friends to see. You can also change the cover photo if you would like.

4. Create and share!

Now all you need to do is click on Create! Your fundraiser is now active for you to share!

Tips for fundraising on Facebook

Spread the news! – Invite your Facebook friends and family to your fundraiser and share a post about your fundraiser, share it in your story, tag your friends… anything you can do to make sure people know you are fundraising! Don’t forget you can also share your link outside of Facebook through other social media or email.

Start things off by donating – this helps to build momentum. Other people may be more likely contribute because they can see that someone already has.

Make it personal – tell your friends and family why you have chosen to support SHINE for Kids, and why it is important to you. This will help to inspire your networks to give.

Keep sharing – often it takes a number of posts before all your Facebook network will see your fundraiser, so don’t be afraid to post about it a few times. Keep your network updated with how your fundraising is going and remind them to donate.

Say thanks!  –  You can thank your supporters as they donate or you can thank them once your fundraiser is complete, share details about how much money you raised and thank them for helping to make a difference.
