The day started with a game of cricket, then everyone shared a delicious BBQ. After lunch, the children played footy on the beach, showcasing a lot of talent.
Then it was time for the main attraction, the colour run! More than thirty children took part and “by the time they came back they all resembled a rainbow!” said Jada, our local Rise Lead Mentor.
“It was full of laughter and smiles! Everyone enjoyed their day and we finished it off with a chalk drawing competition.”
These days are such a great way to connect with the community and bring everyone together.
Our team also enjoyed chatting with parents and members of the community about our work in the local primary school delivering the Rise mentoring program. Parents especially were interested in hearing about how the program supports students to engage positively in their education.
“Lots of community members who came told me how happy they were to see the children having fun and being able to play,” said Jada.
“It made me feel so happy, I was able to help provide days for the children to have fun in a safe environment and network with local community organisations to build on those relationships, as well as with the community and children.
“And most importantly, the kids had a blast!”
