Our team had the privilege of attending the 9th annual Keeping Women out of Prison Coalition (KWOOP) NSW Parliamentary breakfast on the 19th of March, 2025.Â
While the statistics shared were sobering, and it’s distressing that many of these figures are heading in the wrong direction, this was countered by the clear vision for how we can do things better shared by all of the speakers, in particular, the women with lived experience.
The speakers were powerful in their calls for action, including ending sending pregnant women to prison, better housing support, and providing learning and training opportunities to those in custody.

The event was arranged by the Sydney Community Foundation.Â
