ACT programs announcement with Minister Davidson
We had the pleasure of joining Minister Emma Davidson in Canberra on Wednesday, March 27th, to speak with the media about the launch of our full suite of programs, including our first […]
That’s the question one of our eager Rise children from Townsville excitedly asked his mentor as the holidays approached.
The children in Townsville LOVE our Rise Together Days!
They have been enjoying lots of fun activities together, from bowling to scavenger hunts, creative arts days and rock climbing.
Days like these are so important for our children.
They are a chance for them to form connections with other children who have a loved one in custody and understand what each other are going through, and strengthen their trust and relationship with their SHINE for Kids mentor.
The days also provide opportunities for children and their families to build a sense of community and belonging and form a larger support network.
For many of the children, it was the first time they’d been able to participate in big days out like these, and they clearly loved every minute.
“When we went to the Ninja Parc, some of the children had never been before. They were so excited and had so much fun trying new things!” said SHINE for Kids mentor Jessica.
Mostly however, holidays are a chance for children to relax and have fun.
After a term of great engagement at school and amazing work in their Rise sessions, these days are our way of rewarding the children and saying, “Great job, and we are so proud. Keep it up!”
Thank you to The National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) for funding this program.
Please donate today and support children affected by the justice system. Every bit counts!
