Colourful Dreaming

Join us as we celebrate the launch of SHINE For Kids: Colourful Dreaming Program

When: Friday 5 July 6pm–8pm
Where: E3 art space, Wagga Wagga Art Gallery, Civic Centre, Corner Baylis & Morrow Streets
Cost: Free entry – everyone is welcome!

As part of local community celebrations during NAIDOC Week 2013, Wagga Wagga Art Gallery in partnership with SHINE for Kids is proud to be showcasing an exhibition of Indigenous artwork created by the talented participants of the Colourful Dreaming Program.

The SHINE For Kids: Colourful Dreaming Program uses the world of art to encourage the connection of imprisoned fathers to their children while expanding their view of themselves and their world. The program being run at Junee Correctional Centre has been instrumental in elevating the self-confidence of the men participating in the program. The children also benefit by being able to experience a renewed connection to community. Their eyes are opened to new experiences and learn more about their rich culture by creating artwork in a diversity of media; painting, printmaking and weaving.

Come along to the Family Fun Day in the E3 art space on Saturday, 6 July between 10am – 2pm and meet Wiradjuri Elders, Aunty Kath Withers and Aunty Pat Simpson as they weave their magic and help you to create your own little woven treasure to take away!

SHINE For Kids: Colourful Dreaming Program is on display in the E3 art space from Friday 5 to Sunday 14 July 2013.
