My Friend The Bully, a children's book by Robert Barco, was launched at the SHINE for Kids AGM on 26 November 2009 by The Hon. Graham West MP, Minister for Juvenile Justice, Youth and Volunteering. SHINE for Kids sponsored the layout of the book.

Our services commence at Junee

A SHINE for Kids Child and Family Worker began working this month within the visiting area of the Junee Correctional Centre.

SHINE for Kids celebrates NAIDOC 2009

SHINE for Kids' first NAIDOC celebrations were held across all Child & Family Centres, celebrating and promoting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture and achievements to the wider community.

We are extremely proud to announce the establishment of our SHINE for Kids in Victoria!

With a prison population of over 4000 inmates and over 7000 offenders on community-based dispositions, there is a role for SHINE for Kids in Victoria to provide our wide-ranging tangible support services to as many as possible of the over 10,000 young Victorians with a parent in the criminal justice system. SHINE for Kids will launch our work in Victoria with two programs which have proven success in meeting directly the needs of our clients and their families.

SHINE for Kids opens its Child and Family Centre at Parklea

January 2009

In January the SHINE for Kids Child and Family Centre Parklea opened at Parklea Correctional Complex, providing our Drop-in Service for visiting families.
