To introduce a new mentoring program for young men at Frank Baxter Juvenile Justice Centre in Kariong NSW, a competition was held amongst the inmates for the name and the logo of the program. The result: Stand As One.

SHINE for Kids is a voluntary organisation that raises funds to assist children who have a loved one incarcerated in Wellington Correctional Centre. According to Child and Family Worker Maree Thomas, the Child and Family centre runs activities for the children when they go to visit so they don't have to stay in the gaol the entire time of their visit.

Archived on the ABC website, it sensitively shows the impact of one father's incarceration on two of his children and their grandmother, who became their guardian – and how SHINE for Kids was able to assist.
