31st October 2013SHINE for Kids was officially launched in the ACT at 11am today at the Alexander Maconochie Centre. While we have been working with kids in our capital city for a little while, we felt that now was a good time to celebrate, especially as it coincided with the release of a research paper from the Institute of Child Protection Studies of the Australian Catholic University – titled 'Children of Prisoners : Exploring the needs of children and young people who have a parent incarcerated in the Australian Capital Territory'. This paper will inform the project 'Building Resilience in a uniquely vulnerable group: children of prisoners'. Officiating the release of the paper and our program launch was Alasdair Roy, ACT Children and Young People Commissioner. |
