'Auburn Review' article16 October 2012 Silverwater based charity 'SHINE for Kids' is one of the 100 organisations to receive a $10,000 grant from Telstra Foundation's Everyone Connected program. Welcoming the grant, SHINE CEO Gloria Larman said it would help extend an existing education program for the children of prisoners at their Child and Family Centre in Bathurst. 'The education program offers primary school-aged children a supportive, caring and non-judgemental environment where an education support worker and volunteers can assist them to improve their literacy and numeracy skills,' she explained. 'SHINE for Kids has been supporting children of prisoners and their families for 30 years and the number we support during a year reaches 5,500. The demand for our services grows each year and opportunities to add value to our programs, such as through the Everyone Connected Grants by Telstra, would be most welcomed by our team in Bathurst.'
