To be eligible to volunteer, you will need to complete a comprehensive recruitment process. This can range from between 6 – 12 weeks depending on the program and the state where you want to volunteer.

In accordance with SHINE’s Vaccination Policy, you will need to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and provide proof of vaccination prior to commencing your volunteering journey with us.

    Assist with program facilitation at Bathurst Correctional Centre, including Drop in Service, Prison In-Visits and Child and Parent Activity Days.

    The WA Program Assistant Volunteer role assists with program facilitation at Acacia Correctional Centre – Wooroloo, including Keeping Us Together, Storytime and Stay Together, Play Together. This role also assists in supporting intake assessments and administration, and working with key stakeholders, volunteers and community partners.

    The Prison In-Visits program supports positive family interaction and provides a variety of arts, craft and diversionary activities for children to share with their parents. This program is conducted within the relevant visiting area of the Correctional Centre.

  • Ride By Your Side Volunteers – Geelong

    Ride By Your Side involves transporting and mentoring a child or young person for a 12-month period whilst their parent is in custody. It is specifically targeted to children and young people who would otherwise not be able to maintain contact with their parent and see them on a consistent basis. The Program ensures that the parent and child bond is maintained and the child is supported during a difficult time in their life.
