SHINE for Kids is recruiting new volunteers for some of its programs while we navigate our way around COVID-19 restrictions. We thank you for your patience and understanding.

As a not-for-profit organisation operating on tight budgets, SHINE for Kids would not be able to deliver our much needed programs without the extraordinary work and commitment of our volunteers. Volunteers play a vital role in the successful delivery of our programs and services to children and their carers.
SHINE for Kids has over 200 volunteers across NSW, Victoria, ACT and Queensland.
Our volunteers bring an incredible range of personal attributes, life experiences, skills and qualifications to our organisation.
Our Board members are also engaged in a voluntary capacity.
Our volunteers assist us in various programs including Prison Invisits Program, Child and Parent Days, Community Mentoring, RISE Education Program, Ride By Your Side, Stand As One, Parenting programs and many more.
To be eligible to volunteer with us you will need complete a comprehensive recruitment process which can take up to 12 weeks depending on the program and State where you will be volunteering.
In accordance with SHINE’s Vaccination Policy, you will need to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and provide proof of vaccination prior to commencing your volunteering journey with us.
Our meticulous recruiting and screening procedure helps us create a safer organisation for the children and young people we support. The recruitment process is a chance for us to get to know each other! It is a thorough selection process.
You will need to fill our expression of interest form online and submit.
Once this is done your application will be reviewed by our Volunteer Coordinator and the respective program/location coordinators, who will contact you to discuss your application further.
You will be interviewed and two reference checks will need to be completed.
Please note an interview and reference check does not mean you will be successful in your application to volunteer with SHINE.
Your Working with Children Check will be validated and your application for a criminal history check will need to be completed.
You will be required to complete a range of training before you commence volunteering.
Once all of this is completed you will then be able start to volunteering with us.
Prospective volunteers are interviewed and screened to ensure their suitability. Not all volunteer applications will be accepted.
