As well as being able to access all our other programs, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families can reach into their rich and unique culture to overcome the challenges of having a relative in the criminal justice system.
Each year NAIDOC Week has been celebrated at our Child and Family Centres with Family Fun Days. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander inmates and their families enjoy a some great treats like traditional food, dancing, games … even jumping castles!Read more »
‘Belonging to Family’ is for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander parents inside. It uses group work with the inmate, their partner and children, extended family and community Elders. Group sessions explore all your relationships and impacts of your imprisonment.Read more »
‘Colourful Dreaming’ is all about fathers at Junee CC and their kids reconnecting with each other and with their culture. In this program, Aboriginal inmates with families living locally do activities with their children, like playing games or making lunch, or even painting, beadmaking or basketweaving, telling traditional stories as we go.Read more »
