Our Carers Group recognises that carers need support too

The SHINE for Kids Carers Group is a support network for carers of children with a parent or relative involved in the criminal justice system. Members of the group will have experiences similar to yours, so they’ll know what you’re going through and there’s no judgment.

Meetings are usually once a fortnight, with a facilitator who presents information on issues relevant to you – anything from financial management, cooking, educational improvement and parenting. This could be from a guest speaker, like a representative from an organisation that might be able to help you.

On the weeks between group sessions, there are one-to-one sessions for more private discussions with the group leader, who might be able to refer you to agencies in your area that can assist you further with housing, counselling or other matters.
